Caps United players celebrating

FIVE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches have been lined up for Good Friday after the league authorities packed the whole Easter holiday with matches, spilling into Monday.

Giants Caps United and Highlanders, who picked up maximum points in the past weekend, are out to prove their mettle with the biggest match of the Easter weekend, the Bulawayo derby featuring Chicken Inn and Bosso set for Barbourfields (BF) Stadium on Friday.

The GameCocks will be at home, but know that they will face the intimidating Highlanders’ band of fans who have been attending matches in hordes with over 11 000 fans having thronged BF for the match against FC Platinum on Sunday.

Highlanders expect another good crowd on Friday and they showed gratitude for Sunday’s bumper crowd in a statement on their social media handles.

“Thank you to the 11 046 spectators who came to watch us play at BF yesterday (Sunday). How many people do you think will be in attendance for our Chicken Inn match this Friday? Numbers don’t lie.”

Stanley Ngala and Peter Muduhwa were on target for Highlanders while Walter Musona scored for the reigning champions as Bosso ended a nine-year jinx against the platinum miners.

Caps United are back at the National Sports Stadium (NSS), but will be technically away from home as they clash with Black Rhinos.

Adrian Silla’s solitary strike in the second half was enough for the Green Machine to claim all three points against ZPC Kariba over the weekend.

Caps United also commanded a good crowd on Sunday and they will be praying for a Good Friday.

The Green Machine and Bosso are on seven points apiece, at par with leaders Dynamos who will play their fourth game of the season on Monday when they host Cranborne Bullets at the NSS.

The Glamour Boys played a goalless draw against Simba Bhora at the NSS on Saturday after starting off the season with two wins against Hwange and Sheasham.

In other matches to be played on Friday, champions FC Platinum return home to Mandava wounded after losing to Highlanders and they host Bulawayo Chiefs, while Ngezi Platinum Stars host Herentals at the Baobab Stadium in Mhondoro.

Green Fuel will host Manica Diamonds at Gibbo Stadium, but it is Yadah and Simba Bhora who will ignite the Easter fiesta with a match at the NSS tomorrow.

In the only game to be played on Saturday, Hwange, on the fourth spot on the table, are back at Luveve where they host Sheasham.

ZPC Kariba and Triangle clash on Saturday in one of the four matches that will be played at the NSS between tomorrow and Monday.

Hwange, Simba Bhora, Green Fuel, ZPC Kariba, Manica Diamonds and Sheasham are playing their home matches away from their bases because their stadia are yet to get the greenlight for use from the authorities.
