CCC’s Siso withdraws court challenge against Tshabangu

Mbuso Siso

SUSPENDED Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim treasurer-general Mbuso Siso has withdrawn an urgent High Court application challenging his removal by the party's self-styled secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu.

According to court papers dated April 29, Siso withdrew the application filed under HCBC487/26, including the founding affidavit and draft order.

He also tendered costs of suit to CCC and Tshabangu who are cited as respondents in the case.

Siso had originally filed the urgent application on April 8, arguing that Tshabangu unlawfully removed him via a letter dated February 13, 2026, which appointed Kudakwashe Matibiri interim treasurer-general.

Contacted for comment, Siso blamed technicalities for the withdrawal.

“There is a strong reason why I withdrew my case for now, some technicalities concerning my affidavit,” he said.

“The fight is not over. I will come back again to do the refiling.”

Siso acknowledged that he is challenging a man surrounded by advocates and other prominent lawyers.

In his original founding affidavit, Siso argued that Tshabangu’s move violated the CCC constitution.

He cited Article 9.1.2.3, which he said reserved the power to supervise office bearers to party president — a position currently vacant.

He also referenced Article 12, requiring a two-thirds majority vote of the national council to discipline national standing committee members and Article 6.4.2.1, which places removal powers solely on the national council via secret ballot.

Siso maintained that he received no charge sheet or notice and did not attend a hearing before his dismissal, adding that it was a blatant violation of natural justice.
