A BULAWAYO motorist has been slapped with a US$200 fine for assaulting a Tendy Three Investments (TTI) parking marshal who clamped his vehicle.

The motorist, Washington Nhenderere (37), was last week sentenced to four months imprisonment with the option of a US$200 fine by magistrate Maxwell Dube after pleading guilty to the offence.

According to court papers, on January 26 at around 3pm, the complainant, Zibusiso Ngwenya, was on duty and came across Nhenderere’s Toyota Corolla which he clamped at Corporate 24 along Josiah Tongogara Street.

This did not go down well with Nhenderere, who punched the complainant several times.

The accused was restrained from further assaulting Ngwenya by onlookers, leading to his arrest.

TTI was awarded a US$2 million tender for vehicle parking management in 2022 by Bulawayo City Council.

Under the deal, which is a build-operate-and-transfer arrangement, council will receive 30% of the proceeds, while TTI retains 70%.
