A Bulawayo motorist was captured on video attacking a Tendy Three Investments (TTI) marshal.
Washington Nhenderere was not asked to plead when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube last week. He was granted US$200 bail and remanded to February 12 for trial. Prosecutors said on January 26, Nhenderere assaulted a TTI marshal who had asked him to pay US$1 for parking fees.
Nhenderere was restrained from further assaulting the TTI marshal by onlookers before his arrest.
TT1 was awarded a US$2 million tender for vehicle parking management by the council in 2022.
However, there is a groundswell of discontent from motorists over vehicle parking fees charged by TTI.
Under the deal, which is a build-operate-and-transfer (BOT), council will receive 30% of the proceeds, while TTI retains 70%.
In total, over a period of six years, TTI stands to make a potential net profit of US$4 420 080, in comparison to US$941 760 for council
