Organisers promise tight security at Byo Shut Down gig

SECURITY will be a priority at the eminent Bulawayo Shut Down gig this weekend, organisers of the event have said.

Event organiser Jordan Dube spoke to NewsDay Life & Style about the final touches on the preps for the show.

"Look, the issue of security is not one to gamble with. We are aware that at gatherings some people may want to take advantage and mug others. So we have made sure that we beef up our security personnel by hiring out two different security companies. This is to ensure that everyone enjoys with a relaxed mind, knowing that they are in a safe space. Moreover, we will also have the police on the ground, so it is all systems go," he said.

The "shut down" is the highlight of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) week in Bulawayo as it brings down the trade showcase curtain after a week of hustling and bustling.

"We have been doing this for some time now, it is a tradition or now a culture where we give our visitors as well as local residents a memorable last day of the ZITF. This is to celebrate a successful business week. The event will start from 1300hrs on Saturday to 6am the following morning. So those who don't like to move around at night, they can come early, gates will be open," Dube said.

Some names in the star-studded line up include South Africa's Kwesta, Murumba Pitch and amapiano sensation Aymos. Some of Zim's top artistes billed to set the stage ablaze are Saint Floew, DJ Liz, MaN9ne, Enzo Ishall, Mzoe7 and crowd favourite Winky D, who will close the stage with the final act on the night. General tickets are pegged at US$10, while VVIP is going for US$30, and VIP will cost US$50.
