The trial of Caps United midfielder Archford Gutu, who allegedly smashed Harare man, Tonderai Nhunzvi’s car, over bad driving conduct, yesterday failed to start for the second time due to the absence of the player’s lawyer.

Gutu’s lawyer Advocate Lewis Uriri, who is being instructed by Tinofara Hove, was said to be engaged at the Bulawayo High Court in other matters.
Harare magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami further deferred the matter to June 27 for trial.
Gutu was arrested alongside his friend and teammate Method Mwanjali who allegedly stabbed Nhunzvi after the latter confronted Gutu for smashing his windscreen. According to the State, Mwanjali stabbed Nhunzvi twice in the stomach.

When Mwanjali initially appeared in court, Nhunzvi was reported to be critically injured and on life support machine, but has since recovered.
The incident occurred in April at Long Cheng Plaza
This was after Gutu’s vehicle almost collided with Nhunzvi’s car near One Plus One night club inside the mall.
Initial reports, however, indicated the fight between the two followed a nightclub brawl over a woman.
Nhunzvi is said to have reported the matter at around 5:30am at Milton Park Police Station, while Mwanjali and Gutu had fled to an unknown destination allegedly fearing mob justice.
At around 8:30am the same day, Mwanjali and Gutu went to the same police station as complainants alleging their vehicle had been deflated.
The duo is being charged separately.
