Hwange moved into the top four in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League on Sunday after beating Shabanie Mine at the Colliery Stadium with a last minute goal.
The coalminers now have 40 points, one ahead of Highlanders who were held to a 1-1 draw by Shooting Stars at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday in a match that ended in running battles.
Shabanie Mine remained stuck in the relegation zone with 27 points from 25 games and lying in 13th position.
Rodwell Chinyengetere scored for the hosts in the 18th minute before Shabanie drew level in the 75th minute through Tafadzwa Mombeshora.
Zambian import Aaron Katebe then decided the match with a blistering shot in the 89th minute.

Chipangano dictated the match from the start, but were caught on the backfoot when Junias Chizororo came face-to- face with goalkeeper Petros Mhari, but failed to convert.
Chinyengetere then rose high to connect a curling cross from Nkosana Siwela in the 18th minute to give the hosts the lead.
After the breather, the asbestos miners started the match with their foot on the pedal as they sought an equaliser and with just three minutes played, Caleb Masocha launched a counter attack with a blistering shot which was saved by Mhari.
Substitute Kudzanai Kwashi scraped paint off the upright in the 74th minute before the equaliser finally arrived 60 seconds later through Mombeshora.
But the hosts would not let Shabanie walk away with a point as Katebe struck with chilling accuracy with a minute to go, for the coalminers to collect maximum points.
