Long distance athlete Benard Dandadzi got a timely boost ahead of two major marathons when seed giant Seed Co Limited handed over an athletics kit at a function held yesterday.

The 29-year-old Wedza-bred athlete got a full kit, supplements, physiotherapy and transport costs worth an estimated $2000.

Speaking at the function Seed Co group public relations and communication manager Marjorie Mutemererwa said: “We are committed to picking out talent and help them realise their potential at the very top like we have done with Dandadzi whom we want to inspire to reach greater levels,” Mutemererwa said.

Dandadzi said: “I want to thank God for the talent I have and thank Seed Co for sponsoring me. I hope I will able to bring medals home and raise the nation’s flag high,” he said.

He was a pacer for three-time Comrades Marathon champion Steven Muzhingi at last year’s Comrades Marathon.

Dandadzi is preparing for the 42km Mossel Bay and Umtata Marathons to be held in South Africa in August and December respectively.
