Former Motor Action attacking midfielder Masimba Mambare has finally found his feet and settled in well at his new club Highlanders.

Mambare brought Caps United fans to silence on Saturday with a second half brace, as the Bulawayo football giants made an ardent statement that they are in line for the 2012 Castle Lager Premiership championship.

Bosso have opened a seven-point lead on the log table, garnering 39 points after going for a 17-match unbeaten run with Zambian gaffer Kelvin Kaindu.

Speaking to NewsDay Sport yesterday from Harare, where he remained after the match, Mambare (26) said his settling in fast at Bosso has been aided by the presence of former teammates at the Mighty Bulls, Milton Ncube and Bhekimpilo Ncube and a good technical team.

“It has not been difficult. Football is sometimes a gamble, but my comfort and settling in well at Highlanders has been propelled by the good technical department and my good teammates and more so, the fact that I am playing with former teammates from previous club Motor Action, Milton and Bheki,” Mambare said.

Mambare, who has banged in six goals for Bosso, played with Bhekimpilo in 2009 and 2010 at Motor Action and 2010-2011 with Milton.

The attacking linkman believes coming down to Bulawayo at the beginning of the season to join Highlanders has been the right move for him.

“I believe I made a good move coming to Highlanders and I thank God for that. My previous experience is that coming in as a substitute has helped me to adjust to the type of play at Bosso and the coach’s type of play, but now I have become a regular starter and I am enjoying my game. My dream is now to make a break into the national team and move to better leagues outside the country,” Mambare said.

Mambare paid tribute to the Highlanders family for accepting him into the team and promised to continue to deliver.

“I have been accepted very well at Highlanders. I have so much respect for the Bosso family. They are very great; the supporters, the executive and the players. I am at home at Highlanders,” Mambare said.

The pint-sized midfielder played for a juniors side Amabhubesi in Kwekwe before joining Zifa Central Region Division One and former Premiership outfit Ziscosteel in 2006 and 2007.

He then migrated to the capital, where he joined the Mighty Bulls, a team that he played for from 2008 to 2011 before he tracked down to the City of Kings and Queens. He already has one Premiership title medal with Motor Action.

Meanwhile, Shabanie Mine remained on position two on the log standings with 32 points despite losing 1-0 to Harare City in Harare on Saturday.

Chicken Inn dropped to position five following a 1-0 loss to Motor Action on Saturday while FC Platinum went one rung up the ladder after beating Buffaloes 1-0 at Mandava Stadium.

Hwange remained on position eight after picking up a point from a 1-1 draw with Gunners in Harare.

Troubled Quelaton are facing relegation after losing 1-0 to Black Mambas at Luveve Stadium on Sunday and will have to win 10 if not all of their 13 remaining games if they nurse any hopes of remaining in top-flight football after a one-season flirt with Premiership action.

Their next assignment is a tough one against Dynamos in Harare. And after Dynamos were held to a 1-1 draw by Blue Rangers on Sunday, there is no doubt the reigning champions need a quick bounce back.
