CHICKEN INN . . . . . 0
CAPS UNITED . . . . . 0
CHICKEN INN’S struggles continued after they were held to a goalless draw by title-chasing Caps United in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday.
The result extended the GameCocks’ winless run, with coach Tonderai Ndiraya still searching for a victory since his side’s 1-0 home win over Simba Bhora on May 13.
Chicken Inn remain on 11th position with 20 points after completing their first-half fixtures, while Caps United stayed firmly in the title race.
The hosts enjoyed the better of the exchanges, particularly in the first half, but their persistent problems in front of goal once again proved costly.

Ndiraya admitted that results had not gone his team’s way in recent weeks, but welcomed the point against one of the league’s top sides.
“It is two points dropped at home. It was a very difficult game from our end. It has been really difficult for us.
“We have had a bad run of late. We lost three games on the trot before we drew against Agama and now this is another draw today,” he said.
“Of course, they say a point is better than nothing considering where we are coming from and the fact that we were playing against the log leaders.
“From that end, we think it’s a very valuable point.”
Caps United also created several opportunities and coach Takesure Chiragwi was satisfied with a point on the road.
“For us, I think we did so well. The guys showed great spirit after playing on Sunday. With travelling, it was very tough,” he said.
“We had moments where we changed the complexion of the game.
“Chicken Inn were also good in their attacking structure.
“We could probably have scored two or three goals, but we could not convert.”
Although the match failed to produce goals, Caps United midfielder Richard Hachiro delivered a commanding performance and deservedly walked away with the man of the match award.
The Green Machine nearly broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Chawanangwa Kaonga was picked out by Brett Amidu following a move orchestrated by Hachiro, but goalkeeper Taimon Mvula produced a fine save.
Chicken Inn responded four minutes later through Lynoth Chikuhwa, whose effort was kept out by Caps United goalkeeper Stephen Kwaku.
The visitors threatened again in the 54th minute when Takunda Benhura squandered a good chance after being set up by the influential Hachiro.
Both sides pushed for a winner in an entertaining second half, but neither could find the decisive touch as the contest ended in a stalemate.
