BULAWAYO, June 5,2026 (NewsDay Live) - Highlanders Football Club has today added another significant chapter to its centenary celebrations after donating 50 refuse bins to the City of Bulawayo in partnership with telecommunications company,Altcom.
The initiative forms part of the club's efforts to give back to the community that has supported Bosso throughout its 100-year history.
In a statement, Highlanders said the donation reflected the club's commitment to social responsibility beyond football.
"Today marked a special milestone in our centenary celebrations. In partnership with Altcom, Highlanders FC proudly donated 50 bins to the City of Bulawayo to help keep our beautiful city clean and pristine," the club said.
The Bulawayo football giants also expressed gratitude to their partners and city authorities for supporting the initiative.

"Thank you to our leaders, our partners at Altcom, and the Bulawayo City Council for standing with us. A century of Bosso means a century of responsibility to the community that has carried us for 100 years," the statement read.
The donation is one of several activities lined up as Highlanders celebrate their centenary year. The club recently launched the Highlanders African Gin and has also announced the Highlanders Centenary Charity Golf Classic scheduled for August at Bulawayo Country Club.
Founded in 1926, Highlanders are Zimbabwe's oldest football club and are using their centenary celebrations to honour their rich heritage while strengthening their bond with the community through various corporate social responsibility programmes.
Today's donation is expected to bolster Bulawayo City Council's waste management efforts and underscores the club's commitment to making a positive impact off the field of play as it celebrates a century of existence.
