SCOTTLAND . . . . . . . . . . . . . (1) 1
SIMBA BHORA . . . . . . . . . . . (0) 2
Any lingering doubts about Simba Bhora’s form were erased at Rufaro Stadium yesterday as the Shamva-based side staged a dramatic comeback to end Scottland’s unbeaten run.
In a thrilling encounter that swung like a pendulum, Simba Bhora overturned an early deficit to secure a sensational victory over the defending champions in a clash that lived up to its billing.
Scottland took the lead in the 10th minute through Khama Billiat, who reacted quickest to a rebound after William Thole parried Kingsley Mureremba’s strike, calmly slotting home his sixth goal of the season.
However, the Mandla Mpofu- coached outfit roared back with a clinical second-half performance that turned the game on its head.

McCartney Nawaseb sparked the comeback 10 minutes into the second half with his first goal of the campaign, before in-form Harrison Masina completed the turnaround with an 85th-minute winner.
It was Masina’s fourth goal in three matches, underlining his status as the league’s man of the moment.
The win is Simba Bhora’s second straight high-profile victory after their dominant display against former champions FC Platinum last week.
For Mpofu, under mounting pressure just a fortnight ago, the result is transformative.
"Three precious points for us," a visibly relieved Mpofu said after the final whistle.
“Coming into this game, no one gave us a chance as we were playing the defending champions with a lot of quality. I’ll be honest, we came here looking for at least a point. If we had taken a point, I wouldn’t have been disappointed as a coach.”
Mpofu acknowledged his side’s slow start but praised their mental fortitude.
“We started a little sloppy and Scottland could have punished us. They had some very good chances to kill off the game in the first half. I’m happy that after our halftime talk, we came out with the same spirit. We took the initiative and took the game to our opponents. When we got the equaliser, we gained the confidence to push forward until we managed to get a winner through Masina. Overall, we showed character.”
For Scottland, the defeat ended a formidable 10-match unbeaten run. Head coach Norman Mapeza remained philosophical in defeat, conceding that a loss was eventually inevitable.
“I knew such a day would come,” Mapeza said.
“But what is important is how we respond when we fall. In the first 20 or so minutes, we were in control of everything. We had two good opportunities in addition to the goal we scored. Those two chances we missed in the first half sum up everything.”
The result sees Scottland slip to fourth place with 17 points, five behind log leaders Caps United.
Meanwhile, Simba Bhora’s resurgence has catapulted them to seventh on the table with 16 points.
The defending champions started with the swagger of a team that had not tasted defeat in 10 matches.
Just 10 minutes in, the stadium erupted when Billiat showed why he remains one of the league’s most clinical finishers. After goalkeeper William Thole parried Kingsley Mureremba’s initial effort, Billiat reacted quickest in the box, sweeping the rebound into the net. At that moment, Simba Bhora looked jittery. Walter Musona missed a sitter that could have doubled the lead, and Khama Billiat nearly scored a goal for the ages with a speculative lob from the centre that missed by a whisker.
Whatever was said in the Simba Bhora dressing room at halftime worked like magic.
They emerged a different beast—aggressive, organised and hungry.
The comeback began in the 55th minute when Blessed Ndereki glided past two markers in midfield before finding Nomore Tsabora, whose pinpoint square pass allowed Nawaseb to slot home.
Momentum had shifted.
Scottland had a penalty shout waved away after Musona was clipped inside the box and saw a goal-line clearance deny Panashe Mutimbanyoka, but the afternoon belonged to the visitors.
In the 85th minute, substitute Samaneka unleashed a raking crossfield pass to the tireless Tsabora, who again turned provider, laying it on a plate for Masina to tap home the winner.
