HARARE, Apr. 28 (NewsDay Live) — Delta Beverages has unveiled Sable Lager as the new headline sponsor of the Zimbabwe Tertiary Sports Association (ZITS) Games, marking a fresh chapter in the company’s long-running support of university and college sport.
Speaking at the official launch on Tuesday, Delta Beverages marketing manager for lagers, Kundayi Pamela Mawema, said the company remained committed to empowering young athletes and strengthening tertiary sport in Zimbabwe.
Mawema said Delta viewed sport as a powerful platform that unites people while nurturing discipline, talent and national pride.
“These games represent more than competition. They are a celebration of youth, talent, discipline and the future of our nation,” she said.
Delta’s partnership with tertiary sport began in 2018, with Carling Black Label serving as the lead brand sponsor from 2019 until this year.
Mawema said the company was now excited to introduce Sable Lager as the new face of the coveted sponsorship.

She described Sable Lager as Delta’s youngest locally conceptualised and produced clear beer, crafted by a new generation of brewers, technical specialists and marketers.
Mawema drew parallels between the brand and Zimbabwe’s student-athletes, saying both represented youthful ambition, innovation and the future.
“In the same way that Sable Lager was created by a modern generation shaping the future of our category, today’s students have the opportunity to shape the future of our country,” she said.
She praised student-athletes for balancing academic demands with sporting excellence, saying their participation built character, friendships and lifelong memories beyond medals and trophies.
“Our partnership with these games reflects our belief in investing in the generation of now,” she said.
Mawema added that Delta wanted to create opportunities for young people to showcase talent, express themselves and connect on and off the field.
She also promised a bigger entertainment experience at this year’s games, with Sable Lager set to add celebration, connection and excitement to the sporting spectacle.
“Beyond the competition, we want every participant and spectator to feel part of something bigger — an experience that lives beyond the Games themselves,” she said.
