ZIMBABWE'S top junior footgolfers have secured spots to represent the country at the Footgolf Youth World Cup in Gahlenz, Germany, this July, after impressive performances at the national tournament in Kadoma over the weekend.

The Zimbabwe Footgolf Association (ZFGA) hosted a high-stakes junior tournament that doubled as the official qualifying event for the global competition.

In the Girls 13–18 category, Harare’s Privilege Runesu clinched first place, securing her spot on the world stage. She was followed by Britney Mapiwa of the Midlands in second and Laslencia Chapiduka of Harare in third.

The Boys 13–18 category saw Keith Savanhu from Mashonaland East top the qualifiers, with strong showings from the Midlands, where Tien Mavhundutse and Michael Moyo finished second and third respectively.

"Players with the highest points qualify first, depending on the number of players required per category per member country," said Zimbabwe National Footgolf marketing, media and communication manager Angela Garira in an interview with NewsDay Sport before the Kadoma tournament.

The final number of slots for Zimbabwe will be determined by the Federation for International Footgolf (FIFG).

Runyararo Juliana Chihora, ZFGA’s national technical director, who will accompany the team to Germany, said, "At least three per category, but we are still waiting for the exact number from FIFG."

She called for support and sponsorship to ensure the juniors can travel and compete. "We need sponsorship for our juniors to travel to Germany as well as money for accommodation," she said.

The Youth Footgolf World Cup is scheduled for July 16 to 19, 2026, featuring boys and girls across the 13–15 and 16–18 age groups. Each member country is guaranteed one spot per category, with additional slots allocated based on youth licences.
