Scottland FC coach Norman Mapeza is backing his side to convert promising performances into results when they face Manica Diamonds at Gibbo Stadium today.
The defending champions have made a slow start, drawing against newcomers Hardrock and Ngezi Platinum, but Mapeza insists there is no cause for alarm.
“Our preparations have gone well and the guys are pushing,” he said. “The game against Ngezi wasn’t easy, but there were plenty of positives. We just need patience.”
Mapeza identified finishing as the key issue rather than creativity.
“If we had taken our chances, it would be a different story. It’s a work in progress and things will come right,” he said.
Scottland have scored just once so far — from the penalty spot — highlighting their struggles in open play.

“In football you don’t need 10 or 15 chances. Two or three good ones can make the difference,” Mapeza added.
He also dismissed concerns over the team’s winless start.
“If we weren’t creating chances, that would be a problem. But we are, and that’s a positive.”
Mapeza expects a tough test against Manica Diamonds, who are also chasing their first win.
“They will push at home, but we are also going for a positive result,” he said.
