TELONE FC coach Herbert Maruwa says they are not fazed by Soccer Star of the Year Washington Navaya’s departure from the club, stating that they do not count on individual brilliance.

Navaya left The WiFi Boys at the end of last season to join Premier Soccer League newcomers Hardrock FC in a high-profile move.

He was TelOne’s mainstay last season, scoring 17 goals as he helped them achieve a fifth-position finish, their best since getting PSL promotion.

He was the Golden Boot winner, forming a formidable combination with Tawanda Macheke, who was retained by the club.

Speaking to NewsDay Sport, Maruwa downplayed Navaya’s departure, saying his team doesn’t rely on individual efforts, but moves as a solid unit.

“He was a good player for us in terms of scoring goals, and I’m happy for him. We managed to get a top goal scorer and a soccer star as well,” he said.

“But here at TelOne, we don’t rely on individualism. We rely on teamwork. So anyone can step into his shoes and get even more goals.”

TelOne has added two more forwards to beef up their forward line, bringing in Jerry Chipangura from Yadah FC and Farai Mutatu, who was lured from Kwekwe United.

They also hired Innocent Mucheneka, goalkeeper Tafadzwa Chikosi, Marvellous Chigumira, Chelsea Nyakope and Tyrone Matongorere.

TelOne face a tough start to the 2026 season, facing Dynamos FC, MWOS FC, Simba Bhora, FC Platinum and Scottland FC in their first five matches, followed by ZPC Kariba.
