DYNAMOS have signalled the start of a new era after completing the signing of former Democratic Republic of Congo youth international Isaac Landu.

The move is the centrepiece of a massive rebuilding exercise at the Harare giants following a crippling exodus of senior talent since the turn of the year.

The Glamour Boys have been forced into the market after months of discontent that saw the core of their Chibuku Super Cup-winning squad depart.

Out of the roster that did duty last season, the club managed to retain just over a dozen players.

Key departures have left gaping holes in the starting XI.

Former captain Emmanuel Jalai, vice-captain Temptation Chiwunga, goalkeeper Prince Tafiremutsa, Vusa Ngwenya and Felix Hammond, all pivotal in securing DeMbare’s third consecutive Chibuku Super Cup title, have moved on to greener pastures.

In the wake of the departures, midfielder Shadreck Nyahwa is widely expected to inherit the captain’s armband.

Despite intense rumours linking him with a move to Hardrock, Nyahwa returned to training this week and looks set to honour his contract, which runs until December 31.

Other familiar faces staying at the club include goalkeeper Tatenda Makoni, Clive Mandivei, Leeroy Mavunga, Junior Perezo and Jairosi Kasondo.

However, it is the influx of new blood that will have fans talking.

A club source confirmed to NewsDay Sport that the recruitment drive is nearly finished, with over 20 players signed, many through a trial process.

“In terms of talent, I think we have managed to assemble a very good side which can compete for honours this season,” the source said confidently.

While the club is preparing for a player unveiling before the end of the week, the spotlight will be firmly on Landu.

The centre-back reportedly captained the DRC Under-21 side last year.

Despite the high billing, the player is a mystery man, with very little digital footprint available regarding his previous clubs.

Landu will be joined by a host of new arrivals, including Perfect Chikwende, Trevor Mavhunga, Jordan Pedra, Collin Mujuru, Stanley Billiat, Barnabas Mtuche, Mandlenkosi Mlilo, Anotidaishe Gwatidzo, Philip Gweva, Junior Mutenheri, Courage Bera, and Witness Shave.

Former Chicken Inn winger Callum Brown is also currently undergoing trials with the hope of securing a spot on the final roster.

The new-look Dynamos will get an early test of their pedigree as they face arch-rivals Highlanders in a charity match on February 15 in Bulawayo.

This will be followed by a high-stakes clash against league champions Scottland FC in the season-opening Castle Challenge Cup.

This overhaul is not just happening on the pitch.

The club has welcomed back head coach Genesis Mangombe for another stint, while Vincent Chawonza returns as executive chairman.

Chawonza has already promised a commercial facelift, with new kit and club sponsors expected to be announced in the coming days.

After a tumultuous league campaign last year where they survived relegation on the final day, the DeMbare supporters will be hoping this radical rebuild provides more than just a fresh coat of paint.
