HIGHLANDERS and Dynamos meet for the third time this year, this time in the semi-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

The former giants have met in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, where they are fighting relegation, and neither has emerged victorious.

Last Sunday, the two sides played a 1-1 stalemate at Barbourfields Stadium in a league match. Highlanders scored first through Brian Mlotshwa, with Dynamos restoring parity through Jairos Kasondo.

In the reverse fixture at Rufaro Stadium, the two giants played a goalless draw. Kelvin Kaindu, now at Dynamos,  was in charge at Highlanders before he was fired in June following a string of poor results.

Dynamos showed faith in Kaindu, brought him on board, and the Zambian is yet to lose a match with the Glamour Boys since his arrival.

Highlanders elevated Kaindu's assistant Try Ncube to take charge of the Bulawayo giants, but he did not do any better, and they re-engaged former coach Pieter De Jongh.

De Jongh won the Chibuku Super Cup with Highlanders in 2019 and is hoping to do the same this year, a solace for Bosso, who have fared badly in the league over the years.

"The game at BF was good. Both sides played an exciting game. A little tough luck because in the second half, we had five or six chances. We now focus on the semi-final, away game, cup game, and there is an outright winner. I hope the pitch in Harare will have no problem because of the rain," De Jongh said.

"A big game again in one week. It's good because everyone is available. We have no suspended players. We train today and tomorrow and travel on Saturday. Let's enjoy the game. We will do everything possible in our hands to get to the final."

Dynamos are without Kasondo, who gave them the equaliser against Bosso at BF on Sunday, while Denver Mukamba, who came in from the bench, is not available for the Chibuku Super Cup tie.

They are both suspended.

The other semi-final pits MWO FC and Triangle, who clash at Ngoni Stadium tomorrow.
