AS the Zifa Southern Region Soccer League (SRSL), reaches the home stretch, Bulawayo Chiefs are looking forward to a home win against Megawatt FC at the Chiefs Village this afternoon as they plot a quick return to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL).
The Ninjas were relegated from the topflight league last season together with Hwange, Arenel and Chegutu Pirates, leaving only two sides, Highlanders and Chicken Inn in the PSL from the Southern Region.
With six games to go, Chiefs rule the roost in the SRSL, having amassed 64 points with 19 wins in the bag, seven draws and only two defeats from 28 games.
The mastermind in Chiefs’ campaign is coach John Nyikadzino, who says it will not be an easy game for The Ninjas against Hwange-based Megawatt, who beat them in the coal-mining town in the reverse fixture.
“We are ready for the game, we know it won’t be an easy game,” he said.
“We lost to this team in the first leg of the matches. We are ready to fight to the end so that we get maximum points come end of day on Saturday.

“Obviously, it will not be easy. We are number one and everyone who plays us wants to beat us because of our position on the log.
“What is important is to be consistent and focus at the game that we are playing against Megawatt.”
Added Nyikadzino: “We have to focus on converting chances that come our way, defend where we are supposed to, have character to get maximum points.
“What is good is that we are on top of the log, its only six games to go, everybody can see the finishing line, what is important is to maintain the momentum and win.”
Also chasing and aiming at a return to the country’s elite football league is Hwange, who have picked up 59 points from 28 games with 17 wins, eight draws and three losses and are guaranteed three points following the demise of Ajax Hotspurs, who they were due to meet at the weekend, but that tie has been cancelled.
Another side eyeing PSL promotion is Nkayi United, who have shaken up the league with a good performance in the division, accumulating 58 points from 28 games, having won 17 games, drawn seven and lost four, hard done by a home defeat to Hwange last weekend.
They are back home against Bulawayo City at Hartsfield today.
