THE Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) has lauded Liquid Intelligent Technologies for its pivotal role in the successful staging of the TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations 2026 Cosafa Qualifiers, currently underway in Harare.
With 12 nations competing in 22 matches, the tournament, which kicked off on September 11 and runs until September 20, is being hosted at Ngoni Stadium and Hearts Stadium.
In a statement, Cosafa executive director Sue Destombes highlighted Liquid’s contribution, particularly its provision of high-speed connectivity that has enabled the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system for the first time in a football tournament in Zimbabwe.
“We are proud to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of Liquid Intelligent Technologies to the successful staging of the TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations 2026 Cosafa Qualifiers in Harare,” Destombes stated.
“Their support has been vital in ensuring the smooth running of this important youth competition, which provides a platform for the next generation of African football talent,” she added.
Destombes described Liquid’s provision of fibre connectivity as a game-changer, noting its necessity in modern sporting events.

“Reliable, high-speed internet access is no longer a luxury at modern sporting events, it is a necessity,” she said.
“Liquid has enabled Cosafa to deliver a professional and seamless experience both on and off the pitch.”
The partnership’s most significant impact, according to Destombes, has been its support for the VAR system.
This marks a historic moment for Zimbabwean football, as the technology, which relies on secure and dependable fibre networks, is being used for the first time in the country.
“Perhaps most crucially, Liquid’s role has extended to supporting the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system at the stadiums. VAR is an essential tool in ensuring accuracy in decision-making, and it depends on secure and dependable fibre networks. Thanks to Liquid, we have been able to deploy this technology with confidence.
“Their partnership is a shining example of how collaboration between sport and industry can produce lasting impact,” Destombes said.
As the official connectivity partner, Liquid Intelligent Technologies is not only providing the technical infrastructure but is also engaging with fans through social media competitions, giving away 25 tickets per match to enable clients and fans to attend the games.
