NEWLY-promoted football Premiership club Triangle is set to honour players at the club’s end-of-year awards ceremony slated for Chiredzi this month.

REPORT BY KENNETH NYANGANI SPORTS CORRESPONDENT

The club’s executive has decided not to let their team’s success in returning elite football back to the Lowveld after a 42-year wait get blown by the wind.

They will reward the lads who were behind the Gishon Ntini juggernaut.

Triangle secretary-general Alex Khumbula confirmed the development to NewsDay Sport yesterday, but could not disclose the actual date.

“We have not yet finalised preparations, but we are looking forward to holding the ceremony perhaps on the 21st of this month,” he said.

The Lowveld-based side ended the campaign with a remarkable 79 points and 95 goals, and saw striker Tawanda Muyendi topping the scoring charts with 25 goals — seven more than Premier Soccer League top scorer Nelson Mazivisa.

Triangle boast vastly experienced players in the likes of former Dynamos trio of Leo Kurauzvione, Tofirei Sambo and William Mapfumo and the duo of ex-Caps United stars Tineyi Meda and David Sengu.
