TRIANGLE coach Gishon Ntini has backed his troops to continue with their fine run as they host Harare giants Caps United in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Gibbo Stadium in Chiredzi on Sunday.

Ntini’s men have collected four points from their previous two meetings against Monomotapa and Hwange.

He watched his charges draw 2-2 against former champions Monomotapa before edging Hwange 1-0 at the Colliery at the weekend.

While Ntini is happy with the performance of his team, he challenged them to raise the bar as they prepare for the showdown against Caps United.

He predicted a tough encounter against a team he once coached, but remains optimistic of getting a positive result.

“It will be a tough match against Caps United,’’ said Ntini. “It will not be easy, but with the way we are playing, we are confident of getting a good result. If you look at our two last games, we have done very well.

“But I have told my players to up the performance as we face Caps United. In the next three days we will try to correct the mistakes we have noted, but we are ready for them.”

Triangle are on 11th position on the league table with eight points from eight matches.

They have won two, drawn two and lost four.

While the Premiership debutantes have been consistent in the last two games, their opponents have been blowing hot and cold.

Taurai Mangwiro’s men are coming from a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Shabanie Mine at the weekend.

They had also lost 1-0 to Chicken Inn in Bulawayo having comprehensively defeated Black Mambas 4-1.

And another loss against little Triangle could put their campaign off the rail.

In other matches this weekend, Highlanders visit FC Platinum in a top of the table clash. Highlanders go into the match with their confidence high after mauling Buffaloes 3-0 to shoot to the top-of-the league-table for the first time with FC Platinum dropping to second position after managing a 1-0 victory over Tripple B.

Dynamos are at home against troubled Hwange. The two teams seem to have buried their hatchet from last year’s violence at Rufaro after the coalminers agreed to release two players — Francisco Zekumbawira and Allan Tavarwisa to the Harare giants.

Zekumbawira is still struggling with injury while Tavarwisa is yet to score.

Chicken Inn are at home to Motor Action on Saturday, Black Mambas welcome Black Rhinos at Morris Depot while Tripple B finally return home against Monomotapa.

On Sunday, Shabanie Mine host Harare City at Maglas while How Mine are also at home against Buffaloes.
