THE CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) will hold a two-day workshop for club administrators in Harare today and tomorrow aimed at improving the efficiency in management of the teams.

All 16 teams in the top-flight league have confirmed their participation in the workshop.
“This is basically to look at procedures in club administration, work permit issues, player registration, marketing, event management and the improvement of lines of communication between the clubs and the PSL office,” PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele said yesterday.
The workshop comes at a time when the Confederation of African Football (Caf) is pushing for club licensing which will help clubs professionalise their operations and realise their value.
Club licensing seeks to make professional the development of clubs in terms of management and finances, infrastructural development of clubs and stadiums, youth policy, TV rights, broadcasting and production of matches in Africa and marketing of competitions and sponsorship for clubs.

Clubs have been slow to take up this opportunity and a number have been found wanting, especially on issues to do with player transfers.
Recently, Dynamos failed to register a returning Rodreck Mutuma after they entered two different dates in the Fifa Transfer Matching System (TMS) and his date of termination from his previous club Bloemfontein Celtic fell outside the Zifa transfer window.
Bantu Rovers have also failed to get work permits for two of their American players, whow were eventually arrested, fined and now face deportation for overstaying.
