HIGH profile acapella gospel group Shower Power commemorated their 25th anniversary with the launch of their 10th album, Salting the Earth Through Song, at the Harare International Conference Centre on Saturday.

Seventh-day Adventists and non-Adventists thronged HICC to witness this historic event which started with Shower Power singing their old songs, Jesu Anondisisa and Good Samaritan, which made them a household name in Zimbabwe.
The songs proved to be the fans’ favourite as they joined in the singing with a Shekinah Glory International Choir soloist mesmerising the audience with her melodious voice.
Reality 7 from KwaZulu Natal in South Africa, who were part of the 13 groups lined up to perform, took to the stage and put up a spirited performance that swept away the audience.
Shower Power representative Mandikudza Sithole said sticking to their mission have kept the group alive.

“The current Shower Power is now the 8th generation since the group was founded. What has kept us alive to this day is that we learnt that when doing gospel music, don’t follow people but just stick to your mission,” he said.
He said the concert, which also saw him launching a book titled Stewardship Concepts, was meant to appreciate the support they have received from fans.
Sithole was also honoured with an award for the longest serving member, having been with the outfit for 20 years.
Speakers from the first to the fifth generation spoke of their experiences with the 13-member acapella group.
“There was a generation before us but were became popular and referred to as the first because we recorded the debut album. It has been a wonderful journey,” Nqobile Ncube said.
Fourth generation member, Fortress Ndlovu, who is now based in the United States, said the group opened him a lot of avenues that include getting his first job.
Other groups that took part were Thee Family, The Vine, Firm Faith, Behold, Heralds of the Morning, Lighthouse, Power of Praise, Stand and Unshaken.
Shower Power has travelled the world over the years, performing in countries including Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and the US.
