Youths from the Welshman Ncube-led MDC have embarked on a door-to-door campaign in Bulawayo, in a bid to recruit more members into the party, an official said yesterday.
The campaign comes after the MDC youth assembly resolved to engage in mass mobilisation of all young people to register as voters.
The resolution was made at the national congress that was held in April.
In an interview yesterday, the party’s provincial spokesperson, Edwin Ndlovu, said the campaign began last week.
“Our youths have embarked on a door-to-door campaign in Bulawayo in a bid to recruit more members into the party,” he said.
“In addition to the recruitment, the youths are also encouraging people to be registered voters.” Ndlovu said the campaign was one of the programmes for the youth assembly.

“The door-to-door campaign is one of the programmes organised by Bulawayo youths,” he said.
“It is only being done in Bulawayo. Other provinces also have their own programmes, which may not be similar.”
The MDC youth assembly held its third national youth congress on April 29 in Bulawayo.
One of the resolutions made was that the youth assembly would defend the party, its leadership, members and the people of Zimbabwe against violence and all forms of oppression.
