THERE is need for me to teach and reteach because that’s the nature and character of Christology.

Christian doctrine requires that we be silent where the Bible is silent and emphatic where the Bible places emphasis.

Because of the teaching I received during my formative days in the charismatic church, I had to pray and fast first in order to pray for the sick, cast out demons and “feel near God” to have prayer answered.

Are we now relegating prayer and fasting? Certainly no!

Faith was the weapon and alibi used for not getting answers.

On the contrary, we’re removing the wedge put between God the Father and His family by wrong doctrine.

I don’t blame those who taught us because they were using templates passed down to them and probably didn’t read Habakkuk 2:14, “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.”

We’re the generation prophesied to walk in knowledge not ignorance.

We were led to rely on self-effort and works, thereby demeaning the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus and the Grace of God.

Don’t rely on yourself. Jesus Christ is our perfect pure and clean sacrifice.

God sees us in Christ through His redemptive work.

Isaiah 64:6, The Passion Translation, paints the picture of works, “We have all become contaminated with sin, and you see our self-righteousness as nothing better than a menstrual rag. We are all like fallen leaves, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.”

Many Christians struggle to pick themselves up when they stumble.

They want to feel power and a sense of nearness to be heard by God.

This column has through proper biblical interpretation established that faith isn’t a feeling but a knowing.

It hinges on renewing the mind. Romans 12:2, states, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Titus 3:5 is emphatic, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”

The saved or the righteous always rise up or come off the slumber or ditch according to Proverbs 24:16, “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”

Don’t worry about the hours you didn’t complete prayer stretch or the days you didn’t finish fasting period.

Don’t even try to sweet talk God with a seed as in money.

Rising up from failure and trouble is the spirit of the New Covenant for we received the resurrected Jesus.

A preponderant number spend their saved lives confessing sins waiting for a sign from God that they can now do exploits.

The New Testament uses the faith of Jesus Christ not ours. Galatians 2:16 explains, “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

Moreover our sins are imputed on Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:21 simplifies it, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

We’re righteous in Christ through and through since salvation.

1 Corinthians 1:30 is quite instructive, “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:”

Let’s look at few examples.

Hebrews 11 doesn’t mention that David committed adultery and killed the wife’s husband.

Abraham and Sarah had doubt issues but the New Testament mentions them as heroes and heroines of faith.

In fact, reading the whole chapter, there’s no mention of errors, sins and transgressions in the Old Testament of those heroes and heroines.

Have you been held back from experiencing the fullness of the glory of God because you’re dealing with issues?

God is not looking at your shortcomings but on the finished/accomplished work of Christ.

Cast the burden on Christ and go ahead and lay your hands on the sick, cast out devils, receive answers for your prayers.

If you’re waiting for perfection, you might as well forget God’s answers till next life.

Have you stopped God from healing you because of some sin committed years ago?

Have you settled for barrenness because you aborted countless times?

In Christ, your past record isn’t known. Apostle Paul is emphatic in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Please behold or see the new always.

You don’t feel high all the time but the good thing is that God is good all the time and all the time God is good.

What God said to Gideon is what He is saying to you now, Judges 6:14, “And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?”

The right and perfect time is now. You’re the holiness and righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
