BUSINESSMAN and socialite Eddie Zviitwa, popularly known as Eddie Kebab, was yesterday granted $300 bail following his arrest on $85 000 theft charges in a botched sale of an excavator.

Zviitwa, who owns the Kebab Centre in Highlands, was represented by Toby Bopoto when he appeared before magistrate Elijah Makomo.
Makomo released Zviitwa on $300 bail coupled with conditions.
Zviitwa was ordered not to interfere with witnesses, reside at his given address and to report every Friday at Harare CID Serious Frauds Squad until the matter is finalised.

Zviitwa becomes the second person to be arrested on the same theft charges after his associate Keegan Paul Blumears also appeared in court on Thursday.
Blumears is also out of custody on $300 bail.
It is the State case that Taghlan Hovsep was lured to Blumears’ house in Mt Pleasant to buy a Hyundai excavator for $85 000. On arrival with bagfuls of cash, the complainant was set upon by three unidentified men who presented themselves as police detectives.
The men said they were looking for Hovsep in connection with dealing in drugs, minerals and supporting Team Lacoste in reference to a Zanu PF faction linked to Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The men handcuffed Hovsep and searched his car and took the bag containing his cash and cellphones. Zviitwa allegedly arrived during that period and intervened, resulting in Hovsep having the handcuffs removed.
Zviitwa allegedly told Hosvep the matter would be solved amicably and then left with the purported detectives to their offices.
However, on his return, Zviitwa only brought the bag and cellphones minus the cash claiming the money had been taken by a senior police officer.
Zviitwa was remanded to May 3, 2016 and his record will be merged with that of Blumears. Sebastian Mutizirwa is prosecuting.
