Zimpraise chief executive officer Joseph Madziyire told NewsDay the Hymns Night was about going back in time and reliving the power of hymn music.

“These songs put in melody and harmony were not just written by people because they were musical or because they were trying to build a career in music or to make money, but they were written with deep understanding of the Word of God and through such songs, the sick would get healed, the oppressed delivered and miracles happened as they sang them,” he said.

Madziyire said they would also use the concert as a platform to pray for Zimbabwe before an evening live recording of about 30 new hymns featuring Zimpraise Kids, Mudiwa Hood and Kuda Mutsvene.

“We are starting the show at 2pm with a concert in which we will rewind to previous old Zimpraise songs just to minister to all our fans as we praise and worship together. We will then be having the live recording in the evening of which we are doing about 30 new hymns this year,” he said.

“The choir was established to unite various denominations in Zimbabwe through song and worship and our concerts are designed in such a way that allows people not only to be entertained, but to be ministered to and experience the power and Word of God through music.”

Madziyire said tickets for the concert were available at all Chicken Slice outlets and 4May outlets in Harare, selling at $5 advance and $10 at the gate for general admission, while VIP advance ones are going for $10 and $20 on the day of the concert.
