Tatenda Kapikinyu, who resides at Eastview, Mabvuku, was not asked to plead when he appeared before provincial magistrate Tendai Mahwe facing a murder charge and was remanded in custody to August 10 after being advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

Allegations are that on Saturday last week, the now-deceased, whose identity was not revealed in court papers, approached Kapikinyu and demanded his 25c from him.

This did not go down well with Kapikinyu and a misunderstanding ensued between the two, resulting in the latter picking up a kitchen knife with which he stabbed his victim once in the stomach. The now-deceased was rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival and the matter was reported to the police, leading to Kapikinyu’s arrest.

Sebastian Mutizirwa appeared for the State.
