THE late modelling guru and fashion designer, Kiki Divaris, born Vassiliki Babaletakis Divarisa was on Friday honoured posthumously at the second edition of the annual Zimbabwe Models Awards ceremony held at Pabloz Club & VIP Lounge in Harare.

Interestingly, the awards, which are the brain child of former modelling guru, Mercy “Catwalk” Mushaninga were also held in memory of the late modelling guru.
Divaris was among the nominees in the Special Awards Category at the awards that honour individuals and organisations in recognition of their contribution towards the growth and development of the modelling and fashion industry.
In her category, Divaris was honoured alongside Hilda Mulenga, Malaika Mushandu, Nyasha Matonhodze, May 4, Washington Ali, T-Nash and Black Opal.
Speaking to NewsDay on the side-lines of the ceremony, Mushaninga paid tribute to Divaris, whom she said was a pillar in the modelling and fashion industry.

“Despite the economic challenges this year’s awards registered a growth, with five new categories having been added, as we seek to encourage people to take modelling seriously. Among the new categories, that we have added is the Most Educated Model award so that we can encourage our upcoming models to take education seriously,” she said.
Among the other winners on the night are NewsDay Arts and Lifestyle reporter Winstone Antonio, who walked away with the Best Fashion Journalist award alongside Zimbojam Fashion blogger, Tsitsi Ndabambi.
President Robert Mugabe’s daughter, Bona Mugabe-Chikore and husband, Simba were honoured in the Most Flamboyant Wedding category.
Genius Kadungure was honoured as the Most Flamboyant Male, with Zodwa Mnkandla also being honoured as the Most Flamboyant Female.
Zimbabwe’s youngest ever University of Zimbabwe graduate, Maud Chifamba was honoured as the Best Trendsetter (Female) in terms of education sharing the award with musician Cindy Munyavi for her frashion expertise.
