Lawrence Nyangani (46) was not asked to plead to the fraud charge when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Tinashe Tashaya, who remanded him out of custody to next week for trial commencement.
The State alleged that sometime between December 19, 2014 and October 23, 2015, Nyangani failed to account for money given to him to purchase gas for the hospital.
The offence only came to light when the hospital conducted an internal audit following his resignation.
The hospital staff then quizzed Nyangani over the money and he immediately reimbursed it.
