A suspected fake Chipinge prophet has been nabbed in Mutare for reportedly duping his client of money and a cellphone, claiming he would cure a stomach ailment.

Isaac Makuyana (37) from Chipinge appeared before Mutare magistrate Perseverance Makhala yesterday, who remanded him in custody to today for ruling.

According to prosecutor Fletcher Karombe, on March 21, 2019, the complainant Collin Chakanyuka (21) sought spiritual healing from the accused.

Makuyana reportedly pretended that he could cure the complainant and instructed him to bring eggs.

The complainant complied and was told to pay US$20, R400 and 20 bond notes for healing services.

Chakanyuka also gave the “spiritual healer” a cellphone for easy communication between them.

However, the complainant was not healed and failed to get in touch with the accused. Makuyana was arrested at Sakubva bus terminus after a tip-off.
