THE Bulawayo City Council has blamed power cuts for disruptions in its water supply system.
Deputy mayor Mlandu Ncube yesterday told Southern Eye that the Ncema and Fernhill NRV valves were fixed and were functioning well.
“The pump stations are in good shape as we speak, NRV valves were replaced in no time. I think it only took a month and they were already up and running,” Ncube said.
He said the only problem was that the city would continue to be haunted by erratic water supplies due to power cuts.
“Residents have not been exempted from power cuts and this will continue to affect water deliveries,” he said.

Two months back, council engaged the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (Zesa) over recurrent power cuts to the pump stations.
Ncube said council was considering installing solar systems at its waterworks to ensure uninterrupted water supply.
He advised residents to use water sparingly and that they must make use of borehole water for purposes of washing, cleaning and watering of gardens.
The city has been experiencing power outages since a recent fire outbreak at the Hwange Thermal Power Station recently.
