Government will on Tuesday launch the second phase of the National Action Plan (NAP) for orphans and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe.
The programme, jointly funded by Unicef in partnership with the European Commission, Netherlands, Sweden and Britain, will run until 2015.
It is aimed at strengthening families to ensure love, protection and identity for children.
“Through the adoption of a child-sensitive social protection framework which advocates for the strengthening of household incomes, access to basic services and protection of children from violence, abuse and exploitation, the NAP II envisions that by 2020 all children in Zimbabwe will live in a safe, secure and supportive environment that is conducive to a child’s growth and development,” Unicef said in a statement.
NAP II is a government-initiated multi-stakeholder, multi-funded child and HIV-sensitive social protection programme aimed at securing the basic rights of the most vulnerable children in Zimbabwe through the provision of quality social protection and child protection services.
