A 22-year-old suspected female armed robber who, in the company of four others still at large, pounced on a suspected diamond dealer and got away with $200 appeared before Mutare magistrate Fabien Sheshete on Wednesday.
On November 7, Pauline Ngombe lured the victim, only identified as Charles in court papers, to Aerodrome Road in Mutare where she claimed she had secured diamond buyers for him.
Somewhere along the road at a secluded place, they reportedly produced fake police identity cards and pointed a gun at him.
They allegedly forced him into a motor vehicle and drove towards Harare, accusing him of dealing in diamonds. They demanded cash so he could be released.
Charles was freed after parting with $200 following which he was dumped along the Harare-Mutare Road.
He made a police report, leading to Ngombe’s arrest. However, court papers do not indicate how the accused was arrested, but Charles reportedly managed to positively identify Ngombe at an identification parade in Mutare.

The accused was remanded in custody to November 22 and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court, in view of the gravity of her case. Truman Joma prosecuted.
