Award-winning Zimbabwe-born comedian Carl Joshua Ncube, now based in South Africa, has been invited to grace the Mutare Mayor’s Cheer Fund on Friday.
Ncube is expected in the country this morning when he will be taken to Mutare for the cheer fund which is targeting to raise more than $ 7 000.
In a statement released by Mutare mayor’s desk, Ncube will perform at Holiday Inn on Friday night.
The fund, which is dubbed The Mayor’s Diamond Ball, is jointly organised by the Centre for Public Accountability (CPA) who have assisted council to bring Ncube.
“We would want to thank the CPA for making this moment happen.
“Special thanks go to Chris Kabwato for his support and dreams of turning fortunes for our city. We are convinced your lives will have been hugely enriched by kind actions as we get into this festive season,” reads part of the statement.

The mayor called upon people of Mutare to attend to the function and contribute towards the cheer fund. Ncube was born in Bulawayo and has stayed in many countries including the UK and South Africa.
He is currently on a world tour of 37 countries where he hopes to showcase his talents. Alongside humourous issues on sexism and racism, Ncube tells anecdotes about his personal life.
