Zanu PF Harare provincial executive members are at each other’s throats over a housing scheme in Hatcliffe where over 1 000 stands are reportedly being “dished out illegally” by a party parliamentary aspirant.
The aspiring Zanu PF MP, Justice Zvandasara, is said to have parcelled out 1 023 stands to 21 co-operatives, prejudicing land developers Alpha, Divine Homes and former Zanu PF women’s league official and former Hatcliffe MP Nyasha Chikwinya, who reportedly bought the land in Hatcliffe last year.
Yesterday, Zvandasara refused to comment and dismissed the claims saying: “I don’t talk to the media. That is nonsense, you don’t own land through the media. What you are saying in your newspapers is rubbish.”
A letter from the National Housing and Social Amenities ministry (reference number SLS818) confirmed the State land in Hatcliffe North was allocated to the three land developers.
Zvandasara’s Harare North Housing Co-operative was reportedly also allocated its share under phase one which they have since utilised.
But, in a bid to gain popularity, the Zanu PF official has allegedly encroached into the land under dispute, and has so far allocated stands to co-operatives, prompting the developers to seek police, government and senior Zanu PF officials’ intervention.
