Zimbabwe is ranked 173 out of 187 countries in the United Nations’ 2011 Human Development Index (HDI), in another indication of the deteriorating living conditions.
The HDI tracks long and healthy life, access to knowledge and a decent standard of living. Officially launching the report in Harare on Monday, Finance minister Tendai Biti said the ranking showed that Zimbabwe still had a long way to go in developing its people.
