KAROI A 51-year-old woman who presented a fake Ordinary Level certificate to the Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment ministry to gain employment as a ward development officer was last week sentenced to 30 days in jail by a Karoi magistrate.
Evelyn Muzenda of Plot 98 Vuti Farm in Karoi, who was facing forgery charges under the Zimsec Act Chapter 17:94, pleaded guilty.
Muzenda was spared a custodial sentence after magistrate Robson Finsin gave her an option of $120 fine.
The court heard sometime in November 2011, Muzenda went to ministry offices in Karoi where she presented a forged certificate to Chakavimbise Kagoro, a district head in the ministry, to secure employment.
Muzenda was subsequently engaged by the government as a ward development officer. Following a tip-off on January 18 this year, the Public Service Commission instituted investigations against Muzenda where it was discovered she had used a forged document.
Benjamin Negato prosecuted.
