GWANDA — A Zanu PF councillor for Guyu ward 11 was on Wednesday locked up in remand cells for allegedly raping his 13-year-old maid.

Witness Sebatha (55) was not asked to plead to a rape charge when he appeared before Gwanda magistrate Jimmy Ntonga.
He was remanded in custody to November 7.
Public prosecutor Alexander Moyo told the court that on dates unknown to the State, but believed to be early this year, Sebatha on several occasions sexually abused the teenage girl each time other family members were not at home.
The matter only came to light after the girl spilled the beans to some villagers, who in turn reported the matter to police, leading to Sebatha’s arrest.
