POLICE in Rusape have arrested a local businessman who allegedly stormed a prayer session conducted by the Zambuko Reupenyu Apostolic members on Sunday and fired a live bullet at one of the leaders accusing him of casting a bad spell on his farm. REPORT BY OBEY MANAYITI STAFF REPORTER
The businessman, Antony Guta (56), is alleged to have used his registered weapon to scare away members of Zambuko Reupenyu Apostolic sect who were conducting their church service at his farm.
Some of the worshippers stayed at Guta’s Wakefield Farm in Rusape. Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Enock Chishiri confirmed the matter.
“Guta was alleging that the holy waters they sprinkle during the church services were bringing bad omens to his farm projects, thus he wanted them to leave,” Chishiri said.
Guta is alleged to have called one Temba Ngungu (39) from the church gathering and insulted him before ordering the section leader Lovemore Nyahuku to stop conducting prayer sessions at his property.
Guta then allegedly pulled out a pistol and fired one shot at Nyahuku and hit him in the hip before leaving him lying in a pool of blood.

Police attended the scene and recovered the weapon before arresting Guta.
He is expected to appear in court soon to answer to an attempted murder charge.
