VICE-PRESIDENT John Landa Nkomo (78) yesterday became the fourth vice-president to die in office after a long battle with cancer, removing an obvious potential successor to the ageing President Robert Mugabe (89) who has his own health problems. STAFF REPORTER

Other vice-presidents who died in office were the late Father Zimbabwe Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo (82), Simon Muzenda (80) and Joseph Msika (85).
