The gig, dubbed Thank you Zimbabwe, is a present for Harare showgoers for the support they have rendered to the promoters.

Hozheri yesterday said all the preparations were on course for the gig that will also feature Jah Prayzah and Winky D.

“All the groundwork has been done and the artistes are raring to go,” he said.

“Fans have been very supportive and we felt we needed to bring a line-up with a difference so that they know they are not being taken for granted.”

Hozheri said they had secured a tent that would be pitched in the Glamis Arena in case it rains.

Meanwhile, it will almost be a similar affair in Chegutu at Odyssey Hotel where music promoter Cosmas Dhaka will be honouring long-serving members from the Orchestra Dendera Kings band.

Popularly referred to as Cossy Rules, the promoter said it would be in recognition for the sterling work that Moffart Nyamupindu, Knowledge Nkoma and Vivian Ndlovu had been doing in the ranks over the years. Dhaka said he was following the trend of honouring artistes.

“We had the Tuku Tribute Dinner and gala earlier this year and Baba Machanic Manyeruke was also recently honoured so this is my way of appreciating these guys,” said Dhaka.

“We started seeing Moffart playing for the late Simon Chimbetu a long time ago and he has remained in the band maintaining the original sound.”

Dhaka declared the show would also serve as the official launch of his festive season entertainment programme that will see a number of musicians gracing Odyssey Hotel this December.

Joe Nyamungoma, Sulu’s publicist, hailed Dhaka and said he had been supportive all the way.

“Cossy Rules has been one of the most supportive promoters for our band and every other band in the country and we are grateful for the work he has been doing for Zimbabwean music,” said Nyamungoma.
