THE Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) “O” and “A” Level examination results for June this year are out.

Zimsec director Esau Shingirai Nhandara in a statement yesterday said school heads could start collecting the results from the regional centres today.

Nhandara said 194 278 candidates sat for the June Ordinary Level examinations and obtained an average pass rate of 37,96%, which was 13,23% lower than last year’s results .

“Compared with other years, the lowest pass rate is in June 2014 examination,” Nhandara said.

He said the timeous release of the results was made possible by the electronic registration of candidates and in the marking of scripts.

Many “O” Level students were still struggling to pass English Language and Mathematics which had the lowest average passes.

The English Language pass rate was 30,46%, Mathematics (non-calculator) 21,14% and Mathematics (calculator) was 29,86%.

Average pass rates of between 50% and 74% were recorded in Religious Studies, Economics, Shona, Intergrated Science and Biology.

“A” Level results also showed a decline in the pass rate compared to the last two years.

The pass rate for 2012 was 53%, 2013 was 54,35% and the 2014 results is 51,46%
