DENDERA exponent Suluman Chimbetu on Wednesday launched his long-awaited fifth album Gunship at a colourful ceremony at Maestro restaurant in Highlands.

Sulu had initially said the album was to be released in August to coincide with the commemoration gig for his father Simon “Chopper” Chimbetu, who died on August 14 2005.
Sulu’s album comes at a time when most music lovers were eager for a release from him and sungura musician Alick Macheso.
As has become the tradition, on the 10-track album Sulu features sungura musician Somandla Ndebele on the song Phone, dancehall chanter Soul Jah Love on the track Nyuchi and superstar Oliver Mtukudzi on Idah Nhoro.
Since the start of his career, Sulu has released albums Ndomusiya Nani, Reverse Deal, Non-Stop, and Syllabus.

The new offering contains tracks, among them, Nyuchi, Idah Nhoro, Tora Mari, Phone and Mr Bensen which he dedicated to his late grandfather.
Sulu’s publicist Joe “Local” Nyamungoma yesterday described the album as a Christmas present for their fans.
“We are going to have a series of shows so as to take this album to our fans across the country. For those who missed the launch on Wednesday, I urge them to come in their numbers tomorrow (today) at Mushandirapamwe Hotel,” Nyamungoma said. “This has been a busy year and we want to thank our fans for their support and patience. ”
