Speaking at the unveiling of the 160-seater Airbus yesterday, Transport and Infrastructural Development minister Obert Mpofu said: “The A320 offers optimised solutions as it has lesser fuel burn compared to our current fleet, thereby offering lower operating costs, less noise and air pollution, making the national airline environmentally friendly and more competitive.”

Mpofu said that the plane was recently in South Africa for mandatory checks.

“We pledge to continue supporting the air transport industry given its strategic importance to national development, through facilitating trade, tourism and regional integration,” he said.
