CHITUNGWIZA, Jul. 24 (NewsDay Live) – Teen Rescue Mission (TRM), a youth organisation based in Seke, Chitungwiza, says a donation of vocational training equipment from Hope Harbour, supported by the Chinese Embassy, is helping equip young people with practical skills to combat drug abuse, early pregnancies and crime.
TRM, which works with 87 young people, received industrial sewing machines, industrial baking stoves and baking ingredients earlier this month. The equipment has enabled the organisation to expand vocational training programmes aimed at promoting self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
The organisation operates sewing and baking classes in Chigovanyika and Besa Village, where participants are acquiring skills that can be turned into income-generating opportunities.
TRM said the initiative has had a particularly positive impact on girls and women in the community, who have gained practical skills, increased confidence and greater economic independence through the programme.
The organisation expressed gratitude to Hope Harbour and the Chinese Embassy for supporting youth empowerment initiatives.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency Ambassador Zhou Ding for his unwavering support of Zimbabwe’s youth. His commitment to empowering young people is an investment in the future generation, and we deeply appreciate his kindness and generosity,” TRM said.
