JEHOVAH’S Witness in Zimbabwe is bringing hope, purpose and lasting contentment as they  are inviting the public to attend their annual convention series, themed Eternal Happiness, a three-day programme designed to explore practical pathways to genuine happiness through Bible-based teachings.

The convention, one of the largest recurring faith-based gatherings in the world, returns to the Harare Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Waterfalls, from yesterday to tomorrow.

Admission is free and the organisers said the programme is open to everyone in the community regardless of age, background or religious affiliation.

According to regional spokesperson Clapperton Kariwo, the convention’s theme addresses one of humanity’s most enduring pursuits.

“Who doesn’t want to be happy. This year’s convention theme discusses how to be happy and how to remain happy. Those attending will discover the joy that comes from a solid hope for the future,” Kariwo said.

Over 14 weekends, the event is expected to attract more than 35 000 attendees to Harare, with sessions presented in Shona, English and Zimbabwe Sign Language.

Through a rich blend of Bible-based talks, interviews, video presentations and dramatic productions, delegates will examine how spiritual principles can help individuals navigate modern-day anxieties and cultivate enduring happiness.

Among the featured presentations are thought-provoking talks such as “Abundant Happiness Forever — Is It Realistic?”, “Why Are You Anxious?” and “Have You Discovered the Treasure?”

Organisers say the programme will focus on practical lessons for family life, emotional well-being and spiritual growth.

One of the highlights will be the release of Episodes 4, 5 and 6 of The Good News According to Jesus, an 18-part video series depicting the life and ministry of Jesus Christ based solely on the Gospel accounts.

The episodes will be premiered on consecutive days during the convention.

Today’s programme will also include a baptism ceremony, a long-standing feature of Jehovah’s Witness gatherings worldwide.

Beyond its spiritual significance, the convention is expected to generate economic activity for Harare.

Hotels, transport operators, restaurants, retailers and other service providers are likely to benefit from increased visitor traffic throughout the convention period, contributing to business activity in the capital city.

The anticipated economic and tourism impact follows the success of the 2025 Jehovah’s Witnesses convention programme, which attracted approximately 2 000 international visitors to Zimbabwe.

Delegates from various countries contributed to tourism receipts, hotel occupancy and local spending while showcasing Harare as a welcoming destination for international events.

Industry observers noted the positive ripple effects across the hospitality and transport sectors, highlighting the growing role of large-scale faith-based gatherings in supporting tourism and local commerce.

The “Eternal Happiness” programme will also be presented at 19 international conventions around the world in 2026.

These major events are scheduled for destinations including Portugal, South Africa and Thailand, where thousands of delegates from different countries are expected to gather for the same programme.

Globally, Jehovah’s Witnesses organised more than 6 000 conventions in nearly 500 languages in 2025 under the theme Pure Worship.

According to the organisation, more than 12 million people attended conventions worldwide, including 19 international conventions held across 13 countries.
