The Ministry of Health and Child Care has announced a major improvement in diagnostic services at Hauna district hospital in Manicaland, where the hospital has transitioned from manual film to digital X-ray technology.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said the upgrade is part of an ongoing modernisation drive aimed at improving access to quality healthcare across the country, particularly in rural districts.

“Hauna District Hospital has doubled its diagnostic capacity. By switching from manual film to digital X-ray technology, the hospital has increased the number of patients served daily from 10 to over 20 and eliminated long waiting times,”the Ministry said..

The Ministry highlighted that the shift to digital systems has transformed service delivery, allowing patients to receive timely diagnoses and begin treatment without delays.

“Patients in Mutasa District now get their results in one visit, leading to faster treatment and improved health outcomes,” the Ministry added.

The Ministry said the intervention is part of a broader strategy to decentralise specialist-level services and ensure equitable healthcare access nationwide.
