Mutare tax consultant Daniel Mahonye — also identified as Daniel Moyana — has been arrested on forgery allegations stemming from a mining company dispute.

Mahonye was picked up by CID Anti-Corruption Unit (PACU) detectives on April 24, 2026, in a case now under investigation at PACU headquarters in Harare (ZRP Mutare Central CR 33/10/25).

He spent two nights in custody at Mutare Central Police Station before appearing in court on April 27. District public prosecutor Tirivanhu Mutyasira released him, and he is expected to appear at Rotten Row Magistrates Court for further proceedings.

He is represented by Farai Matinhure (Gonese & Ndlovu) and Innocent Mandikate (Mugadza Chinzamba & Partners).

Prosecutors allege Mahonye was engaged in 2013 by Andries Hendrick Joubert to provide tax consultancy services to Joubert Crushers & Transport (Pvt) Ltd and assist in registering Joubert Mining (Pvt) Ltd.

The State claims that in later years, Mahonye unlawfully altered company ownership records, removing Joubert, his wife Annie, their children and John Usanga, and claiming the shares had been transferred to him and his wife, Selina Mahonye (also known as Selina Moyana).

It is further alleged he submitted documents bearing forged signatures of the original directors to the Registrar of Companies to effect the changes.

The dispute escalated in March 2025 when Mahonye allegedly arrived at Sheerluck Mine in Fern Valley — also known as Joubert Crushers — armed with a High Court order declaring him and his wife sole directors, and attempted to evict Joubert’s family and take control of operations.

However, the move collapsed after it emerged the mine is registered in Joubert’s personal name, not the company, blocking Mahonye from legally assuming control or appointing new management.

Mahonye is said to have briefly restricted access to the site before Joubert secured a High Court order restoring his rights and barring interference.

Investigations are ongoing.
